My special areas of interest in Remedial Massage are Shoulders and Legs (Frozen Shoulder, Hamstring Strains, Calves Strains and Shin Splints). I myself have had these issues in the past and have successfully overcome them. The other area I specialise in is rehabilitation and postural correction exercises. With my experience being a Personal Trainer for over 15 years and Remedial Massage Therapist 14 years, I am lucky to be able to combine my knowledge to give a little something extra to my clients!
I am the loving partner to Emma, and dad to 2 gorgeous kids, Jade 4 and a half and Brooke 1 and a half. These three are my world. Oh and can’t forget Jess our Staffy. I am a Libran and I get my energy (my drive) from seeing people achieve their goals. The more people I see the more energy I have. You guys are the reason I get out of bed, work massive days and then do it all again. I need about 10mins of my own time a day. Not much I know. Poor Emma!! I am very competitive and driven person, and wont walk away from a challenge. I have even been able to transform Emma from being the most uncompetitive person I know, into someone that will now compete when challenged. Emma didn’t even want to win when playing board games (weird I know). I trained as a sprinter in my teenage years for northern suburbs athletics club. I have always had a love of being outdoors and being as active as possible. As most of you know I am not a person that can sit still. Back in 2004 I had a major motorbike accident and fractured my left Femur. I was lucky enough to recover fairly well post-accident, with only a leg length issue.
My favourite hobby has got to be Racing Cars or Motorbikes. I like cars from the 70’s (280zx and Celica) that are challenging to drive quickly. I love the feeling of adrenaline, when racing. The faster it is the more fun it is. I also enjoy working on my own fitness goals including Running (normally with my mate Richard) and playing Hockey for 4th Grade OHA. Over the 8 years I have played hockey we have won 2 premierships. I just need to find more time for hobbies – kids seem to absorb my weekends nowadays! Emma and I have worked our butts off during 2017. It has been a big challenge to create the 12 sessions a week bootcamp you see today. We have got an awesome team that are driven and dedicated to our members. Bring on 2018 for another awesome year.

One of my favourite things is a clean kitchen before bed, sad I know! I eat LCHF or keto 95% of the time, nobody is perfect and this works for me. I have been a massage therapist for almost 9 years and a remedial massage therapist for 7 years. A couple years ago I added dry needling to my skill set – and love it! I am one of those ‘Bendy’ people so I am a big fan of yoga as a form of strengthening my body. I have shoulders that partially dislocate every time my arms are raised above my head. This has been a part of my life since was a little girl. We first discovered it while I was a gymnast. I used to ‘pop’ them in and out for fun L Something I would not recommend!!!
My fitness Journey
Well I have always been a pretty active person growing up. I didn’t like to sit still very much! As a young adult I started training for distance running until I had some severe hip pain that stopped me running. It took 6 months but we discovered I have mid hip dysplasia. I ended up having multiple hip surgeries to remove torn cartilage and ligaments. I was advised that if I wanted my hips to last until I was old enough to have hip replacements I should keep my weight in the low 50’s!!
After having time off with rehab for my hip and having suffered severe PND with our first born Jadie, I put on a significant amount of weight. My heaviest was 95kgs and I’m only 162cm tall. As part of my recovery from the PND I needed to lose weight to be able to recognise myself again, but I was unable to train because of the severe hip pain. My team of medical professionals and I decided that I needed to have some medical intervention to help me lose weight quickly. So after much consideration and with the support of my amazing partner Mark I had a lap band fitted in 2014. Since then I have lost almost 39kgs to be sitting comfortably at 56kgs. I lost roughly 25 kgs in the first year, then had my second bubba Brooke in 2016. In late 2016 I discovered LCHF and eating that way along with finally being able to begin my fitness training I lost the rest of the weight. I haven’t had anything in my lap band restricting me since I was pregnant with Brooke. So I am proud to say I am one of the success stories as far as lap banding goes! I’d say I used it as an expensive tool to help give me consequences and teach me about portion control. Using it this way with the support of Mark I was able to achieve my goals! So if you have just met me and think I seem like a super fit Mumma I am J But I haven’t always been this way. I understand chronic pain, obesity and have great empathy for where you are, so feel free to ask me anything, I am an open book about what I have been through.
I have recently moved more into the admin and management side of our business, after being a Remedial Massage Therapist with the company for 8 years. I am still learning but loving having more involvement in the business. You will see me around the massage clinic and I love coming to bootcamp and joining in 3-4 times per week. My specialty is yelling encouragement and motivating or pushing you to your limits by training alongside you at bootcamp J It has been a lovely change to get to come to more bootcamps over the last couple of months than ever before and getting to know you all. My Passion: Helping people – it’s simple really. I love to support, encourage, inspire and feed my family and friends and I am lucky enough to have a great big Total Fitness and Massage family!
